Possible Causes
Clogged venturi nozzle and throat, Air leak in brine line fittings, Stuck air check valve, Blocked drain line reducing flow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and place it in bypass. Be prepared for some water spillage.
- Clean venturi assembly: Remove the venturi nozzle and throat, screens, and gasket. Soak in warm water with vinegar and clean all passages. Replace the gasket if flattened or cracked.
- Inspect brine line and fittings: Check all brine line connections for tightness. Even small air leaks can prevent suction. Replace any cracked tubing or worn ferrules.
- Check air check valve: Remove the air check/brine pickup from the brine well. Clean salt sludge and verify the check ball moves freely and seats properly.
- Verify drain flow: During brine draw, a strong flow should be present at the drain line. If weak or absent, inspect the drain line for kinks or clogs and clear as needed.
- Test again: After cleaning and reassembly, run a manual regeneration and watch the brine level. It should drop steadily during brine draw.
