Safety first: Verify the outlet is safe and not wet. Do not work on live circuits if you are not qualified.

• Check outlet: Plug a lamp or tester into the outlet to confirm power. Reset any tripped breaker or GFCI.
• Inspect transformer: Ensure the power transformer is plugged into the outlet and into the softener. Check for warmth or buzzing; a failed transformer may be cold or excessively hot.
• Test transformer output: With a multimeter, measure the low-voltage AC output (typically 24V) from the transformer. Replace the transformer if no output is present.
• Check board connection: Verify the low-voltage connector is firmly seated on the control board.
• Replace control board: If the transformer is good but the display remains blank, the electronic control board power supply may have failed and will need replacement.
