Morton
No Salt Usage / No Brining
Softener does not use any salt over weeks of operation; salt level in brine tank does not drop.

Possible Causes
No brine refill, No brine draw, Salt bridge preventing contact with water, Bypass valve left in bypass
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and verify bypass position before working on the brine system.
- Check bypass valve: Ensure the softener is in the service position, not bypass. In bypass, the unit will not use salt.
- Look for salt bridge: Probe the salt with a broom handle to detect and break any salt bridge.
- Verify brine refill and draw: Observe a manual regeneration to confirm that water enters the brine tank during refill and that the level drops during brine draw. If either step fails, see the relevant brine refill/draw troubleshooting entries.
- Inspect brine valve and venturi: Clean the brine valve/air check and venturi assembly to restore proper brining.
