Possible Causes

Failed temperature sensor on PCB, Control head installed in excessively hot location, Blocked ventilation around control, Shorted sensor wiring

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit before touching the control head internals.

  • Check ambient conditions: Verify the Nobel softener is not installed directly next to a boiler, heater, or in direct sunlight. Ambient temperature should generally be between 5–40°C. Improve ventilation or shade if necessary.
  • Inspect vents: Ensure the control head cover vents are not blocked by insulation, dust, or stored items. Clear any obstructions.
  • Inspect sensor wiring: Open the control cover and locate the small temperature sensor (often a thermistor) on or near the board. Check that its leads are intact and the connector is firmly seated.
  • Cool and reset: Allow the unit to cool for 30–60 minutes with power off. Restore power and see if E7 clears. If the error returns immediately in a normal‑temperature room, the sensor is likely faulty.

Persistent E7 in normal conditions usually requires replacement of the control board or the temperature sensor module, depending on how it is integrated on your Nobel model.
