Possible Causes
Clogged inlet/outlet screens, Fouled resin bed with iron or sediment, Partially closed bypass or isolation valves, Undersized softener for flow demand
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Place the unit in bypass before disassembling any connections. Relieve pressure at a tap.
- Compare in bypass: Put the Nobel softener in bypass and check water pressure at a tap. If pressure improves significantly, the restriction is within the softener.
- Clean screens: Remove and clean inlet and outlet screens or strainers at the control valve. Rinse away sediment.
- Check valves: Ensure inlet and outlet valves are fully open and the bypass valve is fully closed during normal operation.
- Resin fouling: If pressure remains low through the softener, the resin bed may be fouled. A professional can perform a resin cleaning with specialized cleaners or replace the resin.
