Possible Causes
Worn or cut piston seals, Debris lodged in valve seat, Cracked valve body near drain port, Mispositioned piston
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Place the softener in bypass to stop water waste and disconnect power before disassembly.
- Confirm leak path: With the unit in service (not regenerating) and not in bypass, observe the drain line. Any continuous flow indicates internal leakage.
- Inspect piston and seals: Remove the control head top and extract the piston and seal pack. Look for cuts, wear, or deformation. Replace with a Nobel seal and spacer kit if damaged.
- Remove debris: Inspect the valve body for resin beads or debris at the drain port. Flush with clean water.
- Reassemble carefully: Ensure the piston is fully seated and aligned before reinstalling the motor and cam.
