Possible Causes

Damaged O‑rings on tank neck, Cracked control valve body, Loose plumbing connections, Worn piston seals allowing seepage

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Place the softener in bypass and disconnect power. Relieve pressure by opening a nearby tap before tightening or removing fittings.

  • Identify leak source: Dry the area and observe where water first appears—at the tank/valve junction, plumbing unions, or from under the control head.
  • Tighten fittings: Gently tighten any loose threaded or union connections. Do not overtighten plastic fittings.
  • Inspect tank O‑ring: If leaking at the tank neck, remove the control valve (after depressurizing) and inspect the large O‑ring. Replace if flattened, cracked, or nicked. Lubricate with silicone grease before reassembly.
  • Check for cracks: Examine the valve body for hairline cracks, especially near threaded ports. A cracked body usually requires replacement of the entire control head.
