Possible Causes
Worn or damaged cam gear, Loose motor mounting, Debris in valve causing hard spots, Motor failing under load
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before touching moving parts. Do not insert fingers near gears while powered.
- Observe operation: Remove the control cover and start a manual regeneration. Listen and watch the cam and motor. Identify the stage where noise is loudest.
- Check for looseness: With power off, gently wiggle the motor and cam assembly. Tighten any loose mounting screws.
- Inspect gears: Look for missing teeth, cracks, or foreign objects in the gear train. Replace damaged gears or motor assembly.
- Clean valve: If noise coincides with piston movement, internal debris may be causing binding. A technician should remove and clean the piston and seals.
