Possible Causes
Defective drive motor, Jammed rotor & disc assembly, Broken motor harness or connector, Faulty cam position switch on valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the softener before servicing. Place the bypass valve in bypass to relieve pressure.
- 1. Listen for motor operation: Plug in briefly and initiate a manual regeneration. If you do not hear the valve motor run, the motor or control board may be faulty.
- 2. Inspect the motor and gears: Remove the top cover. Locate the valve drive motor on the side of the control valve. Check for broken gear teeth, stripped coupler, or signs of overheating. Ensure the motor mounting screws are tight.
- 3. Check for mechanical binding: With power off, gently try to rotate the rotor & disc assembly by hand (if accessible per service manual). If it will not move, internal valve parts may be jammed with debris or scale.
- 4. Test wiring and switch: Inspect the motor harness and any cam/position switch wiring for damage. Reseat connectors on the control board. A failed cam switch can prevent the board from seeing valve position.
- 5. Replace parts: If the motor does not run on command, replace the valve drive motor. If the motor runs but Err03 persists and the valve does not index correctly, replace the rotor & disc kit and inspect/replace the cam position switch if fitted.
