Possible Causes
Misaligned rotor & disc, Broken drive gear or cam, Incorrect valve reassembly, Control board not indexing valve correctly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off water and place the unit in bypass before opening the valve.
- 1. Confirm external bypass: Ensure the external bypass valve is in the Service position, not bypass.
- 2. Inspect valve alignment: Remove the valve cover and check that the rotor & disc is properly seated and aligned with the drive gear. Look for broken or missing gear teeth.
- 3. Check cam and stops: Verify that any mechanical stops or cams are correctly installed per the North Star service diagram. Misplaced parts can leave the valve in a partial bypass state.
- 4. Manually index valve: With power off, gently rotate the rotor to the service position (refer to service manual for port alignment). Restore power and see if Err06 clears.
- 5. Replace damaged parts: If gears or the rotor are damaged, install a new rotor & disc kit and drive gear set. If the valve continues to mis-index, the electronic control board may be at fault.
