Possible Causes

Clogged injector or injector screen, Air leak in brine line, Stuck brine valve, Blocked brine well safety float

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the softener and place it in bypass. Use caution when handling salty water.

  • 1. Verify brine level: Ensure there is adequate water in the brine tank to cover the air check at the bottom of the brine well. If the tank is dry, correct refill issues first.
  • 2. Clean injector and screen: Remove the injector cap on the valve. Take out the injector nozzle and throat, and the injector screen. Soak in vinegar or a mild iron remover if fouled, then rinse thoroughly.
  • 3. Inspect brine well and float: Remove the brine well cover. Check that the safety float moves freely and is not crusted with salt. Clean the float assembly and ensure the air check ball is not stuck.
  • 4. Check for air leaks: Inspect all brine line connections for tightness. Replace brittle or cracked tubing. Any air leak will prevent proper suction.
  • 5. Test brine draw: Restore power and water, then start a manual regeneration. During brine draw, observe the brine level; it should slowly drop. If not, replace the injector assembly or brine valve assembly as required.
