Possible Causes
High iron in raw water, Fouled resin bed, Iron buildup in brine tank and injector, Inadequate backwash flow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Do not drink heavily discolored water. Use an alternate source until cleared.
- 1. Clean injector and screen: Remove and clean the injector assembly and screen to restore proper brine draw and backwash.
- 2. Use resin cleaner: Run a series of regenerations using a resin cleaner specifically designed for iron removal, following product instructions.
- 3. Increase backwash time: If your model allows, increase backwash duration to better flush iron from the resin bed.
- 4. Consider pre-treatment: For very high iron, install an iron filter ahead of the softener to protect the resin.
