North Star
Excess Brine Carryover
Water has salty taste after regeneration
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Insufficient rinse time, High brine concentration, Drain restriction, Incorrect cycle programming
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Do not drink water that tastes strongly of salt. Use an alternate source until resolved.
- 1. Check cycle settings: Verify that the rapid rinse and backwash times are set to factory defaults or longer, not shorter.
- 2. Inspect drain line: Ensure the drain hose is not restricted, kinked, or run too high, which can reduce rinse flow.
- 3. Reduce salt dose: If the salt setting is very high, reduce to the recommended level for your hardness and capacity.
- 4. Run extra rinse: Manually start a regeneration and allow an extra rinse cycle by restarting the rapid rinse step to flush remaining brine.
