E08
Rayne Programming / Capacity Configuration Fault

E08 error and unit regenerates too frequently or not at all

Advertisements

Possible Causes

Incorrect hardness setting, Incorrect resin volume or capacity programmed, Mis-set regeneration time, User programming error

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: No internal electrical work is required for this procedure, but avoid pressing buttons with wet hands.

  • 1. Confirm water hardness: Use a hardness test kit or obtain hardness data from your Rayne dealer. Note the grains per gallon (gpg) or ppm.
  • 2. Enter programming mode: Follow the user manual to access the installer or advanced settings on the Rayne controller.
  • 3. Correct hardness and capacity: Set the hardness to the tested value and ensure the resin tank size (e.g., 0.75 cu ft, 1.0 cu ft) and capacity are correctly entered.
  • 4. Check regeneration trigger: Verify whether the unit is set for metered (demand) or time-clock regeneration and adjust to your usage pattern.
  • 5. Save and exit: Store the settings and monitor operation over several days to confirm normal regeneration frequency.

When to call a technician: If E08 persists despite correct programming, the control board memory may be failing and require replacement.
