Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off water to the softener and relieve pressure before opening the control valve. Unplug the unit.
- 1. Verify external bypass: Confirm the external Rayne bypass is in SERVICE. If already correct, proceed.
- 2. Remove control head cover: Access the rotor and cam assembly. Inspect for obvious damage or misalignment.
- 3. Inspect rotor drive: Check the rotor shaft and drive pin that connects to the motor gear. If the pin is broken or missing, the rotor will not move to the correct position.
- 4. Examine rotor and seals: Remove the rotor and seal pack (consult model diagram). Look for cracks, warping, or torn seals that could prevent proper port alignment.
- 5. Reassemble carefully: Lubricate seals with approved silicone grease and reassemble in the correct orientation.
When to call a technician: Internal valve repairs can be complex. If you are not comfortable disassembling the valve, or if parts are damaged, contact a Rayne service provider.
