Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off water to the softener and unplug it. Running to drain continuously can waste large amounts of water.
- 1. Manually advance cycle: If your Rayne model allows, use the manual advance function to step through regeneration stages and attempt to return to service.
- 2. Inspect rotor and cam: Remove the control cover and check that the cam and rotor move smoothly when the motor turns. Look for broken plastic parts or obstructions.
- 3. Check for debris: With water off and pressure relieved, remove the valve cover and inspect for foreign material in the valve ports. Flush gently if needed.
When to call a technician: If the valve cannot be returned to service position or parts are damaged, internal valve repair or replacement is required.
