Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before opening the control valve or removing hoses. Wear gloves when handling salt and brine.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Check salt level: Open the brine tank lid. Ensure salt tablets or blocks are above the water level and at least halfway up the tank. If low, top up with the correct Scalemaster-approved salt type. Do not use rock salt or table salt.
- 2. Break salt bridging: If there is a hard crust (bridge) of salt above a void, gently push a broom handle or plastic rod down through the salt to break the bridge so salt falls into the water.
- 3. Inspect brine well and air check: Locate the brine well (vertical tube inside the brine tank). Remove the cap and lift out the air check valve assembly. Rinse it in warm water to remove salt sludge. Ensure the float moves freely.
- 4. Check brine line: Follow the small flexible tube from the control valve to the brine well. Look for kinks, tight bends, or leaks. Reseat push-fit connections firmly.
- 5. Clean brine injector/nozzle: On the Scalemaster control valve, locate the injector/nozzle housing (refer to the manual). With water isolated and pressure relieved, remove the injector and soak it in vinegar or descaler to dissolve scale. Rinse and reinstall.
After reassembly, restore power and manually initiate a regeneration. If E02 reappears, the brine draw circuit or control valve may require professional service.
