E01
SoftPro
Inlet Water Supply Fault
Control panel displays E01 and the softener will not start a regeneration cycle.

Possible Causes
Closed or partially closed inlet bypass valve, Clogged inlet screen on control valve, No household water pressure to softener, Kinked or blocked inlet plumbing to SoftPro valve head
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off electrical power to the softener and close the main water supply if you will be opening any plumbing. Depressurize the system by opening a nearby faucet.
- 1. Verify bypass position: Locate the SoftPro bypass valve assembly behind the control head. Ensure the inlet and outlet valves are in the Service position (not in Bypass). Many SoftPro units use a three-valve or single-lever bypass; confirm the handle orientation per the label on the valve.
- 2. Check household water pressure: Open a cold-water faucet upstream of the softener. If there is little or no flow, the issue is with the house supply, not the softener. Restore water pressure before retesting.
- 3. Inspect inlet screen: Remove power, close inlet and outlet valves, and relieve pressure. On the SoftPro control valve head, remove the inlet fitting and check for a small mesh screen or flow restrictor. Rinse debris under running water. Do not damage the screen.
- 4. Check for kinks or obstructions: Inspect copper, PEX, or flex connectors leading into the SoftPro valve. Straighten any kinks and ensure no shutoff valves are partially closed.
- 5. Restore and test: Reassemble fittings, slowly open inlet and outlet valves to avoid water hammer, restore power, and attempt a manual regeneration from the control panel. If E01 persists, the internal flow sensor or valve body may be restricted and should be inspected by a technician.
