Display shows E02 and the unit aborts regeneration shortly after starting.

Safety first: Unplug the softener before working on the valve or drain line. Water may discharge when hoses are removed.

• 1. Inspect drain hose routing: Follow the drain hose from the SoftPro control valve to the drain. Remove any kinks, sharp bends, or pinch points. Ensure the hose has a continuous downward slope and is not run more than the maximum length specified in the SoftPro manual.
• 2. Check for clogs: Disconnect the drain hose from the control valve barb fitting (place a bucket underneath). Blow through the hose or flush it with water to clear sediment or iron buildup. Clean or replace if heavily scaled.
• 3. Verify drain line flow control: At the valve drain port, there is typically a small flow control orifice. With water off and pressure relieved, remove the fitting and clean the orifice with water and a soft brush. Do not enlarge the hole.
• 4. Confirm proper drain termination: The drain end should not be submerged in standing water or sealed airtight into a drain pipe. Provide an air gap and ensure the drain is not blocked or frozen.
• 5. Test regeneration: Reconnect the hose, open valves, restore power, and start a manual regeneration. If E02 returns, the internal piston or seal pack may be restricting flow and should be serviced.
