SoftPro water softener shows E03 and will not advance through regeneration steps.

Safety first: Disconnect power before removing the control valve cover. Water pressure should be turned off and the system depressurized if you will open the valve body.

• 1. Listen for motor operation: With the cover on and power connected, initiate a manual regeneration. If you hear no motor noise at all, suspect the drive motor or its power feed.
• 2. Inspect wiring: Unplug the unit. Remove the control valve cover. Check the motor harness connection to the main control board and to the motor itself. Reseat connectors and look for corrosion or broken wires.
• 3. Check for mechanical jam: With power off, gently try to rotate the main cam or gear (if accessible) by hand. It should move with moderate resistance. If it is locked solid, the piston/seal pack may be seized due to scale or debris.
• 4. Test motor (if equipped with plug): Some SoftPro motors can be tested by applying power briefly (follow manufacturer specs). If the motor does not run when energized and wiring is good, replace the drive motor.
• 5. Service valve internals: If the motor runs but stalls or E03 persists, the main piston and seal/spacer stack inside the SoftPro valve head may need replacement. This requires shutting off water, depressurizing, removing the valve head from the tank, and installing a SoftPro piston and seal kit.
