Possible Causes
Internal clock failure on control board, Power interruptions without backup, Incorrect time or regeneration settings, Faulty backup capacitor or battery on SoftPro board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: This is an electrical/control issue; no plumbing needs to be opened. Unplug the unit before removing the control cover.
- 1. Verify time and settings: Check the time-of-day, hardness, capacity, and regeneration mode (metered vs. time clock) on the SoftPro display. Correct any obvious errors and save settings.
- 2. Check for frequent power loss: If the outlet is on a switch or GFCI that trips often, move the power adapter to a stable, unswitched outlet.
- 3. Inspect control board: Remove the cover and look for a small backup capacitor or battery (if equipped). If it is visibly leaking or swollen, the board should be replaced.
- 4. Factory reset: Follow the SoftPro manual to perform a factory reset of the controller, then re-enter all programming. This can clear corrupted settings that trigger E06.
- 5. Replace control board: If the clock will not keep time or E06 persists after reset and stable power, replace the SoftPro control board.
