Possible Causes
Leaking SoftPro control valve seals, Running toilet or house plumbing leak, Stuck open faucet, Faulty flow meter reporting false flow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: This fault may indicate a real water leak. Be prepared to shut off the main water supply if necessary.
- 1. Verify actual flow: Ensure all faucets and appliances are off. Check the SoftPro display for flow rate. If it shows flow, look and listen for running toilets, dripping faucets, or other leaks in the home.
- 2. Isolate the softener: Place the SoftPro bypass valve in Bypass. If the flow reading drops to zero, the leak is downstream in the house. If it continues, the valve or meter may be at fault.
- 3. Inspect valve for internal leak: If flow is indicated with the unit in Service and no fixtures running, the main piston and seal pack may be bypassing water internally. This often requires a SoftPro piston and seal kit replacement.
- 4. Check flow meter: Clean and inspect the flow meter/turbine as described for E05. A stuck turbine can falsely indicate flow.
- 5. Address plumbing leaks: Repair any identified household leaks. If E12 persists with no leaks and a clean meter, contact a technician to service the SoftPro valve head.
