Possible Causes

Stuck brine float not shutting off refill, Blocked brine drain during regeneration, Faulty high-level sensor in brine tank, Excessive brine refill time programmed

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit and place it in bypass. Wear gloves and eye protection when working with brine.

  • 1. Lower brine level: Use a small pump or container to remove excess brine until the level is below the normal operating height.
  • 2. Inspect float and safety shutoff: Remove the brine well cover and lift out the float assembly. Clean salt buildup from the float, rod, and valve. Ensure the float moves freely and the shutoff valve closes when lifted.
  • 3. Check brine tank drain (if present): Some systems have a separate overflow drain. Ensure it is not blocked and is properly routed.
  • 4. Verify refill settings: Confirm that the brine refill time or volume is set according to SoftPro specifications for your model. Reduce if set too high.
  • 5. Test sensor: If your unit has a high-level sensor, clean it and check wiring. Replace the sensor if E18 persists despite normal brine level and proper float operation.
