Possible Causes
Drive motor energized but stalled, Vibrating transformer in power adapter, Loose mounting of control head, Internal relay chatter on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before touching the control head or motor. Do not operate a motor that is clearly stalled for long periods.
- 1. Identify noise source: Place your hand lightly on the control head and power adapter to determine where the hum originates.
- 2. Check for stalled motor: If the noise comes from the valve head and the unit is in regeneration, the drive motor may be stalled. Cancel regeneration and see if the noise stops. If it continues, unplug the unit.
- 3. Inspect motor and cam: With power off and water pressure relieved, remove the cover and check that the motor and cam are not jammed. Replace the SoftPro drive motor if it hums but cannot turn the cam.
- 4. Replace noisy adapter: If the hum is from the power adapter, replace it with a genuine SoftPro adapter of the same rating.
- 5. Check board relays: If relays are chattering, the control board may be failing and should be replaced.
