Possible Causes
Inlet and outlet lines reversed, Bypass valve left in bypass, Cross-connection between hard and soft lines, Incorrect tie-in to plumbing manifold
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off water and relieve pressure before altering plumbing connections.
- 1. Verify bypass position: Confirm the SoftPro bypass is in the Service position, not Bypass.
- 2. Check inlet/outlet orientation: Inspect the labels on the SoftPro valve head for Inlet and Outlet. Ensure the house supply is connected to Inlet and the house distribution to Outlet. Reverse connections if installed incorrectly.
- 3. Test hardness at multiple points: Test water hardness at a faucet close to the softener and at distant fixtures to identify where hard water is entering.
- 4. Look for cross-connections: Ensure there are no tees or valves connecting softened and unsoftened lines together downstream of the softener.
- 5. Correct plumbing: Reconfigure piping as needed so all desired fixtures receive water from the SoftPro outlet only.
