Possible Causes

Salt bridge in brine tank, Clogged SoftPro venturi injector, Air leak in brine line fittings, Stuck brine float preventing draw

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit and place it in bypass if you will be opening the brine tank or valve. Wear gloves when handling salt and brine.

  • 1. Check for salt bridge: Open the brine tank lid. Push a broom handle or plastic rod straight down through the salt. If you hit a hard crust with empty space below, break up the bridge so salt falls into the water.
  • 2. Verify brine level change: Start a manual regeneration and watch the brine tank during the brine draw stage. The brine level should slowly drop. If it does not, suspect injector or line issues.
  • 3. Clean injector and screen: Shut off water, relieve pressure, and remove the SoftPro injector cover on the valve head. Clean the injector nozzle, throat, and screen in warm water, removing iron or sediment.
  • 4. Inspect brine line and float: Check the brine line for kinks and tight connections at both the valve and brine float. Open the brine well and ensure the float moves freely and is not stuck with salt.
  • 5. Test again: Restore water and power, then run another regeneration. If salt is still not used and water remains hard, the internal brine valve or piston may need service by replacing the SoftPro piston and seal kit.
