Control display is blank; softener appears completely dead

• 2. Inspect transformer: Ensure the Sterling power transformer is plugged in and not warm or burnt. Replace if suspect.
• 3. Check low-voltage plug: Confirm the low-voltage connector from the transformer is firmly plugged into the control head.
• 4. Inspect board: Remove the cover and look for burnt components or loose connectors on the main control board.
• 5. Replace components: Replace the power transformer first. If the display remains dead, the main control board likely needs replacement.
