Possible Causes
High household water pressure, Fast-closing valve, Lack of water hammer arrestors, Loose plumbing supports
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: High pressure can be dangerous. If you suspect very high pressure, contact a plumber.
Steps:
- 1. Measure pressure: Use a pressure gauge on a nearby faucet. Ideal pressure is 40–80 psi.
- 2. Install pressure regulator: If pressure exceeds 80 psi, have a plumber install or adjust a pressure-reducing valve.
- 3. Add hammer arrestors: Install water hammer arrestors near the Sterling softener or at problem fixtures.
- 4. Secure piping: Ensure pipes are properly strapped and not loose.
