Sterling Water
No Brine Draw / Salt Not Dissolving
Softener not using salt; salt level in brine tank never goes down

Possible Causes
Salt bridging in brine tank, Clogged injector/venturi, Blocked brine line, Stuck brine valve or float
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit and place it in bypass before opening the brine system. Wear gloves when handling salt and brine.
Steps:
- 1. Check for salt bridge: Push a broom handle straight down into the salt. If you hit a hard crust with empty space underneath, break the bridge so salt falls into the water.
- 2. Verify water in brine tank: There should be several inches of water at the bottom. If completely dry, see refill issues (injector or refill valve).
- 3. Clean injector/venturi: Remove and clean the injector assembly on the Sterling valve to restore suction.
- 4. Inspect brine line and float: Ensure the brine line is not kinked and the float moves freely. Clean or replace the brine float assembly if it is stuck.
- 5. Test brine draw: Start a manual regeneration and observe whether the brine level drops during the brine draw step. If not, further valve diagnostics or professional service may be required.
