Possible Causes
Stuck brine refill valve, Blocked brine line causing backflow, Incorrect brine level setting, Leaking brine valve seat in Tapworks valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit and close the inlet valve. Mop up any spilled brine promptly to avoid corrosion.
- Shut off water to softener: Turn the bypass to 'Bypass' to stop further filling.
- Check brine float: Open the brine well and ensure the safety float moves freely and is not stuck in the down position. Clean any salt sludge from around the float.
- Inspect brine valve: Remove the brine line from the valve and check for continuous water flow from the valve port when the unit is in service. If water flows, the brine valve is leaking.
- Clean or replace brine valve components: Disassemble the brine valve section of the Tapworks valve head, clean the seat and seals, and replace worn parts.
- Reset brine level: Adjust the float height according to the Tapworks manual to limit maximum water level.
