Possible Causes
Failed Tapworks keypad membrane, Moisture ingress into control panel, Damaged ribbon cable between keypad and PCB, Stuck or worn buttons
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing the control panel.
- Check for lock mode: Some Tapworks models have a child lock or keypad lock. Refer to the user manual to disable any lock function before assuming a fault.
- Inspect for moisture: Remove the control cover and look for condensation or salt residue on the keypad and PCB. Dry gently with a hairdryer on a cool setting and clean with a soft cloth.
- Check ribbon cable: Ensure the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board is fully inserted and not damaged. Reseat the connector.
- Test individual buttons: With power restored, press each button firmly. If some work and others do not, the keypad membrane is likely failing.
- Replace keypad / front panel: If E6 persists or buttons remain unresponsive, replace the Tapworks front control panel or keypad membrane assembly as supplied by the manufacturer.
