E7
Tapworks Salt Level / Brine Sensor Fault

E7 error and the display shows abnormal salt level or brine tank alarm

Possible Causes

Faulty Tapworks brine level sensor, Disconnected sensor wiring, Heavy salt bridging around sensor, Incorrect sensor installation height

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit and wear gloves when working inside the brine tank. Avoid breathing salt dust.

  • Check actual salt level: Open the brine tank lid and visually confirm the salt level. If the tank is nearly empty, refill with the recommended Tapworks tablet salt and reset the alarm if applicable.
  • Break salt bridges: Use a broom handle or plastic rod to gently push down through the salt. If you feel a hollow space beneath a hard crust, you have a salt bridge. Break it up carefully so salt falls into the water below.
  • Inspect the sensor: Locate the brine/salt level sensor (float or electronic probe). Ensure it moves freely and is not buried in hardened salt. Clean off any salt crust with warm water and a soft brush.
  • Check wiring: Trace the sensor cable to the control board and ensure it is firmly connected and undamaged.
  • Reposition if necessary: Confirm the sensor is mounted at the correct height as per the Tapworks installation guide. Adjust if it was installed too high or too low.
  • If E7 remains after cleaning and wiring checks: Replace the Tapworks brine level sensor assembly.
