Possible Causes

Inlet or outlet shutoff valves closed, Blocked inlet screen, Jammed rotor disc in closed position, Incorrect bypass valve position

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Do not force valves with tools; you may damage them and cause leaks.

  • Check house valves: Confirm the main stopcock and any isolation valves before and after the softener are fully open.
  • Verify bypass setting: Ensure the Tapworks bypass is not in a mid‑position. Set fully to 'Service' or temporarily to 'Bypass' to restore water.
  • Inspect inlet screen: Shut off water and relieve pressure. Remove the inlet connection and clean the Tapworks inlet filter screen.
  • Check valve internals: If the problem persists, remove the valve cover and inspect the rotor disc for damage or misalignment. Replace the valve head if the disc is cracked or seized.
