Possible Causes
Blocked inlet/outlet screens, Fouled resin bed causing channeling, Partially closed bypass or isolation valves, Undersized Tapworks model for household demand
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Depressurize the system before removing any fittings.
- Compare in bypass: Put the softener into bypass. If pressure improves, the restriction is within the softener.
- Clean screens: Remove and clean the inlet and outlet screens or filters on the Tapworks valve.
- Check valves: Ensure all isolation valves are fully open and the bypass is correctly positioned.
- Regenerate resin: Perform a manual regeneration to loosen the resin bed. If pressure remains low, the resin may be fouled and require replacement.
- Assess sizing: If the softener is too small for your peak flow, consult Tapworks or a plumber about upgrading to a larger capacity model.
