Possible Causes

Incorrect time or regeneration settings, Disabled regeneration mode, Faulty control PCB, Motor not receiving power

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before removing the control panel.

  • Check current time: Ensure the clock is set correctly and that the regeneration time is in the future (usually at night).
  • Verify regeneration mode: Confirm the unit is not set to 'Off' or 'Vacation' mode. Set to 'Metered' or 'Time clock' as appropriate.
  • Attempt manual regeneration: Press and hold the 'Regenerate' or similar button. If the valve does not move or the cycle does not start, suspect a motor or control fault.
  • Inspect motor wiring: Remove the cover and check that the motor connector is firmly attached to the control board.
  • Test motor voltage: With appropriate safety and a multimeter, check for voltage at the motor terminals when a regeneration is commanded. No voltage indicates a control board issue.
  • Replace faulty component: If the motor is open‑circuit, replace the Tapworks valve motor. If the motor is good but never powered, replace the control PCB.
