Possible Causes

Damaged O‑ring between valve head and resin tank, Cracked valve body, Loose tank clamp, Freeze damage

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Immediately close the inlet valve and bypass the softener to stop the leak. Unplug the unit.

  • Dry and inspect: Wipe the area dry and identify the exact leak point (tank/valve joint, side of valve, fittings).
  • Check fittings: Tighten any loose inlet/outlet fittings by hand, then slightly with a wrench if needed. Do not overtighten plastic fittings.
  • Inspect tank‑to‑valve joint: If water seeps from this joint, depressurize the system, remove the valve head, and inspect the large O‑ring. Replace if flattened, cut, or brittle.
  • Check for cracks: Examine the valve body for hairline cracks, especially if the unit has been exposed to freezing temperatures. A cracked valve head must be replaced.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit the valve with a new O‑ring lubricated with silicone grease, pressurize slowly, and check for leaks.
