Possible Causes
Incorrect or missing DLFC button, Oversized drain line, High system pressure, Modified or damaged valve internals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the drain can handle the flow to prevent flooding. Wear eye protection around high-pressure discharges.
- Verify DLFC presence: Remove the drain fitting and confirm a drain flow control button is installed. If missing, install the correct Tier1 DLFC for your softener size.
- Check water pressure: Measure house water pressure. If above Tier1's recommended maximum, install a pressure-reducing valve.
- Inspect valve: Ensure no internal modifications have been made that bypass the DLFC. Restore original configuration if altered.
- Secure drain line: Anchor the drain hose to prevent whipping and ensure it is properly air-gapped at the drain.
