Possible Causes
Defective flow sensor generating false pulses, Electrical noise on sensor wiring, Incorrect meter size programmed, Internal leak through control valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Close the main water valve if you suspect a real leak. Unplug the softener before opening the control head.
- Confirm no actual flow: Ensure all faucets and fixtures are off. Check the water meter at the street (if available) to verify there is no real flow.
- Check programming: Verify the correct flow meter size and K-factor are set in the installer menu for your Tier1 model.
- Inspect sensor wiring: Look for sensor wires routed alongside high-voltage cables or near motors that could induce noise. Reroute or secure the harness away from interference.
- Test with meter disconnected: Disconnect the flow sensor from the control board and observe the display. If the unit still shows flow or E07, the control board is likely faulty. If the error clears, the sensor or meter is at fault.
- Replace defective parts: Replace the flow meter / sensor assembly if it generates pulses with no flow. If a new sensor does not resolve the issue, replace the control board.
