Possible Causes
Blocked brine line, Clogged brine injector/venturi, Stuck brine float, Empty brine tank or salt bridge
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit. Wear gloves when working with salty water. Avoid breathing salt dust.
- Check salt level: Ensure the brine tank has adequate salt. If there is a hard crust on top with empty space underneath, you have a salt bridge. Break it carefully with a broom handle, avoiding damage to the tank.
- Inspect brine float assembly: Remove the brine well cover. Lift the float up and down; it should move freely. Clean any salt sludge from the float and safety valve. Ensure the air check at the bottom is not stuck closed.
- Check brine line: Follow the brine line from the tank to the control valve. Look for kinks or leaks. Disconnect at the valve and blow through it; resistance indicates a blockage.
- Clean injector/venturi: Remove the brine injector/venturi assembly from the control valve (usually under a cap). Disassemble and clean the nozzle, throat, and screens with water and a soft brush. Reassemble carefully.
- Test brine draw: Start a manual regeneration and observe during brine draw stage. The brine level should slowly drop. If it does not, recheck for blockages or replace the injector/venturi kit and/or brine float assembly.
