Softener appears dead: no display, no lights, and no response from buttons.

Safety first: Do not open electrical devices while they are plugged in. Work with dry hands.

• Check outlet and breaker: Confirm the outlet has power by plugging in another device. Reset any tripped GFCI or breaker.
• Inspect transformer: Ensure the Tier1 transformer is firmly plugged into the outlet and the control head. Check for damage to the cord.
• Measure transformer output: Use a multimeter to verify the transformer output matches the label (typically 12–24 VAC). Replace the transformer if there is no output.
• Check low-voltage plug: With power disconnected, unplug and replug the low-voltage connector at the control board to ensure a solid connection.
• Replace control board: If the transformer is good and wiring is intact but the display remains dead, replace the electronic control board / timer assembly.
