Possible Causes

Cracked brine tank, Loose brine line connection, Leaking brine float assembly, Overflow due to stuck refill valve

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit. Mop up standing water to prevent slips. Salt water is corrosive; protect nearby metal surfaces.

  • Identify leak source: Dry the outside of the brine tank and observe where water reappears—at the bottom seam, around the brine well, or at the brine line fitting.
  • Check brine line fittings: Tighten the nut where the brine line connects to the brine well and to the control valve. Replace any cracked ferrules or fittings.
  • Inspect brine float assembly: Remove the brine well cover and check for cracks in the tube or float assembly. Ensure the safety float shuts off refill water at the correct level.
  • Look for tank cracks: Examine the bottom and sides of the brine tank for hairline cracks or splits. If present, the tank must be replaced.
  • Correct overfill issues: If the tank is overfilling, clean or replace the brine float assembly and verify the control valve's refill setting is correct.
