Possible Causes
Kinked or blocked drain line, Drain line flow control (DLFC) clogged, Frozen drain line, Improper drain installation causing backpressure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Close the inlet valve and relieve pressure before disconnecting the drain line.
- Inspect drain line: Follow the drain hose from the valve to the discharge point. Straighten any kinks and ensure the line is not pinched behind equipment.
- Check for obstructions: Disconnect the drain line at the valve and blow through it or flush with water to confirm it is clear. Remove any debris or scale.
- Clean DLFC: Remove the drain line flow control fitting from the valve outlet. Clean the small orifice of any iron or sediment buildup. Rinse and reinstall.
- Verify drain termination: Ensure the drain line discharges to an air-gapped drain and is not submerged or tied into a pressurized line, which can cause backpressure.
- Test regeneration: Reconnect the drain line, restore water, and run a manual regeneration to confirm proper drain flow and that ERR DRAIN clears.
