Display shows LOW SALT or SALT LOW warning on US Water Systems softener

Safety: This is generally a non-hazardous condition, but avoid lifting heavy salt bags if you have physical limitations.

• Check actual salt level: Open the brine tank lid and visually inspect the salt. If the salt is genuinely low, add high-purity solar or pellet salt recommended by US Water Systems.
• Break salt bridges: If the tank appears full but the display still shows LOW SALT, use a broom handle or plastic rod to gently push down on the salt. If you feel a hollow space beneath a hard crust, you have a salt bridge. Carefully break it up so salt falls into the water below.
• Inspect salt level sensor: Some US Water Systems brine tanks have a float or electronic salt sensor. Ensure it moves freely and is not encrusted with salt. Clean with warm water if necessary.
• Run a manual regeneration: After correcting the salt level, initiate a manual regeneration to ensure proper brine draw and refill.
