Possible Causes
Brine tank empty, Severe salt bridging, Brine tank disconnected or valve closed, Faulty salt level sensor stuck in low position
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Non-electrical, but avoid overfilling the brine tank.
- Refill salt: If the brine tank is empty, add 2–3 bags of approved water softener salt. Do not fill to the very top; leave several inches of space.
- Check for bridging: If there is a hard crust with empty space below, break the bridge as described for LOW SALT. Remove any large chunks that will not dissolve easily.
- Verify brine tank connection: Ensure the brine line is firmly connected between the control valve and the brine well in the tank. Confirm any brine shutoff valve is open.
- Test brine draw: Start a manual regeneration and observe the brine level during the brine draw stage. The water level should drop. If it does not, see the "No brine draw" fault below.
