Possible Causes

Bypass valve closed or mispositioned, Plugged inlet screen, Collapsed resin bed, Jammed control valve

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: If you have no water, open a bypass immediately to restore temporary service.

  • Check bypass position: Ensure the US Water Systems bypass is in the SERVICE position (usually both handles parallel to the pipes). If unsure, place the unit in BYPASS to restore water, then consult the manual.
  • Inspect inlet screen: Shut off water and depressurize. Remove the inlet fitting and check for a screen or filter clogged with sediment. Clean or replace as needed.
  • Check for resin blockage: If resin has migrated into the valve or plumbing, you may see resin beads in faucets or aerators. This indicates a broken bottom distributor or severe resin breakdown and requires tank service.
  • Service the valve: If the valve is mechanically jammed, remove and inspect the piston and seals. Replace worn parts and flush the tank before returning to service.
