Possible Causes
Valve not fully in service position, Debris on valve seat, Worn seals, Bypass partially open/closed causing crossflow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Continuous flow wastes water and salt; address promptly. Shut off water if leak is severe.
- Check display status: Confirm the unit is not in a regeneration cycle. If it is stuck, see "Regeneration Cycle Stalled".
- Verify bypass position: Ensure the bypass is correctly set to SERVICE and not partially between positions.
- Inspect valve internals: Shut off water and depressurize. Remove the piston and seals. Clean any debris from the valve body and seats. Replace worn seals and spacers.
- Test after reassembly: Restore water and listen for continued hissing. If flow persists, the valve body may be damaged and require replacement.
