Possible Causes

Blocked brine injector, Air leak in brine line, Stuck brine valve, Low salt level or salt bridge in brine tank

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and close the inlet valve. Place the softener in bypass if you need water during troubleshooting.

  • Check salt level: Open the brine tank lid. Ensure there is sufficient salt and that it is not forming a hard crust (salt bridge) above the water. Break any bridge gently with a plastic rod and remove solid chunks if necessary.
  • Inspect brine well and float: Remove the brine well cover. Check that the float assembly moves freely and is not encrusted with salt. Clean with warm water and reassemble.
  • Clean the injector: Locate the brine injector on the valve head (usually under a small cap). Remove the injector and nozzle/venturi parts. Soak them in vinegar or a mild descaler and clear any blockage with a soft brush.
  • Check brine line and connections: Inspect the brine hose from the valve head to the brine well. Ensure there are no kinks, cracks, or loose fittings that could draw air instead of brine.
  • Test regeneration: Restore power and water, take the unit out of bypass, and start a manual regeneration. Observe the brine draw stage; the brine level in the tank should slowly drop. If F2 reappears, the brine valve or control head may need replacement.
