Softener emits a foul or musty odor from the brine tank

Safety first: Wear gloves and eye protection when handling brine and cleaning chemicals. Disconnect power.

• Empty brine tank: Scoop out remaining salt and brine into suitable containers for disposal according to local regulations.
• Clean tank: Wash the brine tank with warm water and a mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly. Optionally disinfect with a dilute bleach solution, then rinse again.
• Clean brine well and float: Remove and clean the brine well and float assembly to remove any slime or deposits.
• Refill with approved salt: Use only Viessmann-approved salt types to minimize impurities.
• Run regeneration: Refill with water as per manual and run a full regeneration before using softened water.
