Softener produces cloudy or discolored water after regeneration

Safety first: Do not drink discolored water. Place the softener in bypass until the cause is identified.

• Inspect drain water: During regeneration, observe the drain water for resin beads or heavy sediment.
• Check for resin in fixtures: Look for small amber beads in faucet aerators or strainers, indicating resin escape.
• Open mineral tank (advanced): After isolating and depressurizing, remove the valve head and inspect the riser tube and lower distributor for cracks or damage.
• Replace damaged parts: Install a new Viessmann riser tube and bottom distributor if damaged. Consider replacing resin if significant loss has occurred.
