Possible Causes
Insufficient rinse time programmed, Blocked drain flow control, Incorrect cycle configuration on Water2Buy controller, Internal valve port misalignment
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not drink or cook with water that tastes salty. Bypass the softener until the issue is resolved.
- Check cycle times: Enter the advanced settings and verify that the rapid rinse and backwash times meet Water2Buy’s recommended values. Increase rinse time if it has been shortened.
- Clean drain flow control: Remove and clean the drain flow control and associated fittings to ensure full flow during rinse stages.
- Run extra rinse: Manually start a regeneration and, after brine draw, extend the rinse stage by restarting it if your controller allows. This can flush residual salt.
- Inspect valve alignment: If salty water persists despite correct settings and good drain flow, the rotor or seals may be misaligned or damaged, requiring valve head service or replacement.
